I live around the corner from the joyce theater so sometimes I get last minute tickets to weekend matinees. This past sunday, I saw complexions contemporary ballet company. They performed five pieces in three acts with music ranging from bach to U2. While the U2 piece was loud and fun, I really enjoyed the “Ave Maria” pas de deux from “The Grapes of Wrath” ballet. oh, and one of the coolest parts was “I Will Not Be Broken,” performed by some Dwight Roden, one of the founders of the company with S. Epatha Merkerson singing live. An afternoon so well spent!
